Waferpedia documents fab tools and precision-optics equipment as an encyclopedia: each entry collects specifications, variants, applications, and field notes, shown alongside the published sources that back them, so you can check the record instead of trusting it.

Coverage spans lithography, CVD and PVD deposition, etch, CMP, metrology, inspection, test and probe, thermal processing, wet processing, dicing and grinding, and the packaging and bonding equipment now central to AI chip manufacturing. It includes advanced packaging tools for CoWoS and HBM production, silicon photonics fabrication equipment, and power semiconductor process tools. The catalog has particular depth in legacy and mature-node equipment. These tools produce the majority of the world's chips and remain actively traded in the secondary equipment market, yet their specifications are scattered and often uncited online. Waferpedia compiles them in one cited, searchable place.

The Build tool

The Build tool turns the encyclopedia into an equipment planner. Pick your operation type, answer a few guided questions about your process, wafer size, and scale, and Waferpedia generates a cataloged equipment plan from cited entries. The plan shows the full tool set your process requires, what those tools demand from your facility, budget tiers from essential to full build-out, phase sequencing for multi-month timelines, and where sourcing gaps remain.

Every platform recommended in the plan comes directly from the cited catalog. The plan is exportable as a PDF and can be reopened and refined. Engineers planning new fabs, lab builders, equipment procurement teams, and investors modeling fab build requirements use it to translate a process target into a concrete equipment list grounded in sourced reference data.

The Compare tool

The Compare tool lets you line up to four semiconductor equipment models at once. Every value shown is drawn from its cited encyclopedia entry, and rows that diverge are flagged. Methodology

Every specification on Waferpedia links to its published source. The site does not display manufacturer claims without a primary citation. The gap ledger on each entry shows exactly what is verified, what is unverified, and what is missing. Contributors can propose corrections backed by cited evidence at waferpedia.com/contribute. All contributions are reviewed before going live.

Waferpedia is neutral. It has no commercial relationship with any equipment manufacturer or dealer. The encyclopedia does not publish pricing, promote vendors, or take sponsored content. The reference data is compiled from cited public sources so engineers, researchers, procurement teams, investors, and AI systems can rely on the same record.
