What it is

The DEK 288 handles PCBs with a minimum size of 50 mm by 38 mm and a maximum size of 510 mm by 510 mm. Board thickness can range from 0.4 mm to 6.4 mm. The machine accommodates warpage up to 8 mm deviation from a nominal plane including board thickness. The DEK 288 has a machine interface transport speed of 500 mm per second. Transport height from floor is adjustable between 820 mm and 960 mm. The system uses edge conveyors 4.0 mm wide at the front and rear. Feed direction is selectable as pass-through from left to right or right to left, or single-ended operation.[1]

How it works

SMT stencil printers operate by aligning a metal stencil over a PCB and forcing solder paste through apertures in the stencil using a squeegee. The DEK 288 uses a vision system with an on-the-move telecentric XY camera that simultaneously views the stencil and the board. Alignment repeatability is 25 µm at six sigma. Alignment accuracy is 25 µm print to pad at three sigma. Cycle time including fiducial capture and alignment is five seconds plus process variables. Set-up time is less than five minutes. Product changeover is approximately two minutes.[1]
